Meet the Munch Bunch
The Munch Bunch will be sharing a new kid-friendly recipe each month. With simple ingredients, basic tools, and easy techniques, these recipes will teach and encourage kitchen skills for the whole family.
The Munch Bunch is a kid baking crew, made up of my three sons, Hatton, 15 years old, Killian, 7 years old, and Soren, 5 years old. They’re wild, messy, mischievous, clumsy, and extremely impatient. But, boy, do they love to bake. And even more so, they love to munch on what they bake, hence their title. These kiddos are my favorite sidekicks in the bakery. With them, everyday is a sweet adventure.
Chances are, if your kids like to eat baked goodies they’ll love to make them too. Baking with your kids is a wonderful activity to help build their confidence, teach them new skills, and create fun memories. Let them get messy, let them experiment, let them play, and most importantly, embrace the mess. They’re only little for so long. These moments with them are precious.
Baking is my craft. My heritage. My grandma taught my mom, my mom taught me, and I’m teaching my boys. For me, there is no greater joy than baking. It’s cozy, therapeutic, creative, artistic, and deliciously rewarding. In my house, baking is how we do quality time. Nothing brings my family together like freshly baked chocolate chip cookies or gooey peanut butter brownies, especially when my boys had a hand in the making of them. Warm hearts, proud smiles, and happy bellies. It’s a tradition I intend to keep alive.
These boys are so happy to be in the bakery whipping up treats. And I couldn’t be happier watching them. Even if it means I’m whipping batter off the walls later.
Check out the debut recipe from the Munch Bunch, Homemade Whoopie Pies! They are the ultimate cookie sandwich, loaded with chocolate flavor, filled with fluffy vanilla buttercream, and finished with a generous dose of colorful sprinkles. Who could resist? Give them a try with your kiddos!
