Phase Two : Inside My Home Studio Bakery
I’ve waited for this space for so long and it’s finally ready. Someone pinch me!

After months of tiling, shiplapping, sanding, painting, and more painting, my dream home studio bakery is finally finished. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out. This space is so personal to me, not only because it’s where I’ll be spending hours working and creating, but because every detail was designed by me and was built by my husband, Jeremiah. It was a true DIY, labor of love.
I call this space a “studio” bakery because it’s where I’ll be setting and styling photoshoots and producing videos, in addition to cake and cookie making. It’s more than a bakery, it’s my office, my workshop, my creative den.
Because the bakery is an extension of our 1920’s farmhouse home, maintaining its cozy country charm was important, but I also wanted modern amenities. I opted for durable, yet rustic, butcher block counters, stained in a deep walnut to compliment more clean-lined shaker cabinets. The counters are easy to clean, add a warmth to the room, and will look better with age. The counters and cabinets are tied together with modern hardware and graphite accessories from Room and Board.
Bringing genuine farmhouse flair, the exposed wood plank shelves came from one of the barns on our ranch. They’re roughly 100 years old. I love that we were able to bring a piece of history into a new space. They’re the perfect setting to display my cake stands, cookbooks, and sweet photos of my boys.
The center of the room is the kitchen island and barstools, both from Room and Board. I needed a functional work surface, but did not want to sacrifice style. This gorgeous Portica island has a sleek stainless steel base and lower shelf for storage, with a smooth white marble composite top. It’s organic, luxurious, easily cleaned, and, with the modern leather Pike stools, the perfect place to gather and create. My boys love climbing up on the stools to watch mommy bake and sneak bites.
To make the bakery instantly inviting, I chose a whimsical, hand-painted cement wall tile from The Cement Tile Shop. I’m inspired by color and pattern, it encourages my art, so I wanted to add this unique, whimsical element to my space. The green and charcoal colors of the tile pull in my vintage pendants while highlighting the surrounding wall tile, hardware, and accessories.
Tying it all together is traditional white shiplap. Nothing says country farmhouse charm like shiplap. It’s crisp, clean, and fresh, making the space light and bright. The shiplap frames Kitchen Aid appliances beautifully, sitting on both sides of the entrance, and adds a flowing linear design that carries your eye throughout the space.
I’m so grateful for this space. Thank you to my husband, Jeremiah, for giving up multiple nights and weekends to build it for me. He gave so much attention to every detail. I know I didn’t make it easy!
Thank you to Room and Board. From the kitchen island, to the hardware, to the dish towels, Room and Board had exactly what I needed to design a space that was both functional and beautiful. I couldn’t be happier with my selections in terms of quality or style. Truly timeless, and seen throughout my entire home.
Thank you Lindley Rust for photographing my space so beautifully!
